2018-2019 Foundation Scholarship Applications are now available. Apply via the Members Network. Deadline is March 12, 2018.

Each year, your generous donations make it possible for the Sigma Chi Foundation to grant numerous academic scholarships and awards to deserving Sigma Chi undergraduate and graduate brothers. The Sigma Chi Foundation Founders' Scholar awards will be awarded to the top seven undergraduate applicants based on academic performance and demonstrated leadership:

  • $10,000 — Chuck and Kim Watson Scholar
  • $10,000 — John and Nancy Peterson Scholar
  • $10,000 — Greg and Carol Harbaugh Scholar
  • $10,000 — Founder' James Parks Caldwell Award
  • $10,000 — Founder' Issac M. Jordan Award
  • $10,000 — Founder' Benjamin Piatt Runkle Award
  • $10,000 — Founder' Franklin Howard Scobey Award

For the 2016-2017 academic term, the Sigma Chi Foundation was pleased to award $418,000 in scholarships.

Providing scholarships and awards furthers the Foundation's goal to promote academic excellence and lifelong learning. We proudly award brothers who show outstanding character in action, academic motivation, and commitment to their chapters and campuses. Having benefited from this support they, like you, give back to support the academic endeavors of their fellow brothers.

Objectives of Scholarships and Awards:

  • Motivate our brothers to reach their full potential as leaders.
  • Support our brother's academic endeavors.
  • Reward hard work and character.
  • Recognize and encourage excellence.
  • Support the studies of brothers who have financial need.

Undergraduate Applicant Eligibility and Application Requirements:

  • Undergraduate member or pledge in good standing of Sigma Chi Fraternity
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Copy of your most recent transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation: chapter advisors, college professors and staff, high school teachers, employers, coaches, members of the clergy and co-workers are all good choices. Letters of Recommendation from your undergraduate chapter brothers/peers, family members and friends are not acceptable.

Graduate Applicant Eligibility and Application Requirements:

  • Member in good standing of Sigma Chi Fraternity
  • Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Copy of your most recent transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation: one letter of recommendation must be from a dean, professor or professional colleague and the other letter should be from a Sigma Chi alumnus you have known for at least a year. Letters of Recommendation from family members and friends are not acceptable.

    All applicants to the General Undergraduate Scholarship will be considered for the Founders' Scholarship, Bell Chapter (if applicable), and available Donor-Scholar awards. You do not have to complete a separate application for any of these awards.

Scholarships now include need-based considerations.

  • The Sigma Chi Foundation created the Strong Arms of Support Scholarship Fund. This fund will be used to provide academic scholarships (that can include educational needs such as replacing a computer) to brothers impacted by a recent natural disaster or other exigent situation. The objective is to fill a financial need created by disaster.

  • The Donor-Scholars Program An alumnus can endow an annual $1,000 named scholarship with a $25,000 gift. Donors are encouraged to provide biographical and contact information to facilitate a mentorship opportunity with the recipient.
